We say: I am hopeless
I am stupid
I am worthless
I am so dumb
I am afraid
I am alone
The truth is, those statements are not only lies, they are us boldly declaring and owning them as our truth. We say them as if it is our identity – who we are. “I AM…”
Those statements are in fact how we are feeling…sometimes viable, but never who we are! We can feel worthless, but that does not make it true. We can feel afraid, because our circumstances ARE scary, but we are not AFRAID. It is not our identity.
The enemy is always trying to get us to embrace his lies. We do not need to help him out by declaring them over ourselves.
The TRUTH…
- We ARE children of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:18)
- We ARE loved (John 15:9)
- We ARE seen (Genesis 16:13)
- We ARE gifted and uniquely wired to “be” who we were designed to “be” (Isaiah 64:8 & Ephesians 2:10)
- We are free from the bondage, weight and destruction of sin (Galatians 5:1)
- We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
Why? Because God is the true I AM…
And He says:
2 Corinthians 6:18 – I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
John 15:9 – As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
Genesis 16:13 – She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Isaiah 64:8 – Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand
Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Galatians 5:1 – It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Psalm 139:14 – I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
